Role Title: Data Modeler
Location: London, UK (Hybrid – average 3 days/week onsite)
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Work Mode: Hybrid
Visa Eligibility

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler to support a modern enterprise data platform for a global specialty insurance organisation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models supporting critical insurance data domains including Underwriting, Claims, Policy Administration, Reinsurance, Finance, Actuarial, Risk, and Regulatory Reporting.
The role requires strong expertise in enterprise data modelling, Data Vault 2.0, dimensional modelling, data warehousing, data governance, metadata management, and cloud data platforms (Snowflake).
You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, business analysts, data engineers, and governance teams to deliver scalable, high-quality, and governed data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data platforms.
- Translate business requirements into scalable and robust data structures.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and processes.
- Develop and optimise dimensional models including:
- Star Schema
- Snowflake Schema
- Data Vault models
- Apply Data Vault 2.0 principles including Hub, Link, and Satellite design.
- Support data warehouse design and implementation initiatives.
- Work closely with Data Engineering teams to implement models within Snowflake and cloud-based data platforms.
- Perform source system analysis and create Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) specifications.
- Define enterprise data standards, naming conventions, modelling guidelines, and best practices.
- Create and maintain:
- Data dictionaries
- Metadata repositories
- Business glossaries
- Data documentation
- Support data governance activities including:
- Data lineage
- Data quality
- Metadata management
- Regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with governance teams using tools such as Collibra, Data.World, Manta, or similar platforms.
- Review and optimise existing data models for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Support Data Mesh and modern data architecture principles.
- Participate in architecture reviews and provide recommendations on data design decisions.
- Support Agile delivery processes including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and design reviews.
- Document data flows, business rules, transformation logic, and architecture decisions.
- Work with global teams to successfully deliver enterprise data initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience designing and maintaining:
- Conceptual Data Models
- Logical Data Models
- Physical Data Models
- Experience with enterprise data platforms and data warehouse solutions.
- Strong understanding of:
- Data Vault 2.0 modelling
- Hub, Link, Satellite architecture
- Dimensional modelling
- Star Schema
- Snowflake Schema
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouse platforms.
- Strong SQL and database design knowledge.
- Experience performing source system analysis and creating STTM documents.
- Experience with data modelling tools such as:
- ERWIN
- SQLDBM
- Similar enterprise modelling tools
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data lineage.
- Experience working with cloud data ecosystems:
- Azure
- AWS
- GCP
- Experience collaborating with Data Engineers, Architects, Business Analysts, and business stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Domain Experience (Highly Preferred)
Strong preference for candidates with experience in:

- Risk & Regulatory Reporting
- IFRS 17 reporting requirements
Preferred Skills
- Snowflake Certification or equivalent cloud data warehouse experience.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks, or similar technologies.
- Exposure to enterprise data catalog and governance platforms.
- Knowledge of Data Mesh architecture principles.
- Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM).
- Experience with cloud migration and data modernisation programmes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices for data platforms.
- Experience working in global delivery and client-facing environments.
