Data Modeller
Shape the data foundations powering the next chapter of Vanquis
Our data landscape is evolving at pace, and our growing Data Architecture team is creating the models and standards that will support trusted insight, reporting and operational decision-making across Vanquis.
As a Data Modeller, you'll translate complex business needs into clear, scalable data models. You'll work hands-on across a wide range of projects, helping develop our Data Vault approach, shape how data modelling is done and set standards that will influence what comes next.
This is a growth role within a team that currently includes two permanent colleagues. You'll have the autonomy to roll up your sleeves, solve problems and make a visible contribution from the outset.

This opportunity sits within Technology & Change, where you'll contribute to a growing Data Architecture capability while developing your expertise across varied projects, technologies and stakeholder groups.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Own and improve data modelling standards and patterns, supporting consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Develop and advocate Data Vault methodology across data warehouse and data product designs.
- Translate business requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data models that engineers can build from.
- Model Salesforce and wider operational data, including flows, transformations and mappings.
- Collaborate across Architecture, Analysis, Engineering, Governance and Security to resolve complex design decisions.
- Help shape a growing data modelling capability and establish standards others can follow.

The tools and methods helping us shape what's next
- Data modelling - Data Vault 2.0, dimensional, entity-relationship and normalisation techniques.
- Platforms - Snowflake, Salesforce, Salesforce Data Cloud and Azure-based data toolsets.
- Tools and languages - SQL and modelling tools such as SQLDBM or Erwin, with Python useful.
- Design focus - Data warehouse architecture, database design, data flows, transformations and mappings.
Essential experience
- Strong experience creating and implementing data models, patterns and standards in a complex organisation.
- Hands-on Data Vault and Salesforce data model experience. Alternatively, substantial data warehouse and database design experience.
- The ability to translate complex requirements into clear conceptual, logical and physical data models.
- Strong knowledge of dimensional, entity-relationship and normalisation techniques.
- Practical SQL skills and experience exploring data to inform design decisions.
- A delivery-focused mindset, with the confidence to take ownership, work autonomously and get involved in the detail.
- Clear communication and the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Useful, but not essential
- Experience designing models for Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse.
- Knowledge of Salesforce Data Cloud, Customer 360 or Financial Services Cloud.
- Experience with SQLDBM, Erwin or comparable data modelling tools.
- Python experience and familiarity with Azure-based data toolsets.
- Experience in regulated financial services and an understanding of GDPR or PCI DSS.
