What Your Impact Is
In this role, you will:
- Ensure the availability, performance, and stability of ERM's core SQL database environment and business intelligence platforms.
- Support and optimize critical business systems, including ERM's finance platform and enterprise-wide reporting solutions.
- Enable data-driven decision-making by maintaining trusted, accessible, and high-performing data assets.
- Drive improvements in database architecture, data integration, analytics capabilities, and reporting solutions.
- Partner with teams across IT and the wider business to deliver innovative, scalable technology solutions.
- Contribute to the evolution of ERM's modern data platform strategy, leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and advanced analytics technologies.
What You'll Bring
Required
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, Data Engineer, BI Engineer, or similar role.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and related technologies.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, stored procedures, functions, views, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
- Experience with database design, schema development, logical and physical data modelling.
- Strong understanding of query languages and analytics technologies, including SQL, MDX, DAX, Power Query (M), and PostgreSQL.
- Experience building, maintaining, and optimizing ETL/ELT processes using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, or equivalent tools.
- Hands-on experience developing and supporting Power BI solutions, including Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
- Experience creating and maintaining analytics data pipelines that support reporting, insights, and operational decision-making.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric architecture, including OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, and Notebooks.
- Understanding of business intelligence best practices, including dimensional modelling, data warehousing, and data governance.
- Experience supporting mission-critical systems with a strong focus on uptime, stability, and service excellence.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server environments and networking fundamentals.
- Experience operating within regional or global organizations.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred
- Experience supporting enterprise finance systems or ERP platforms.
- Experience working with SSRS, Report Builder, and other reporting technologies.
- Knowledge of cloud-based data architectures and modern analytics platforms.
- Experience supporting bespoke business applications with complex database dependencies.
- Exposure to service management or ITIL-aligned support environments.
- Experience mentoring colleagues and contributing to technical capability development within a team.
- Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, Fabric, Azure Data, or related technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure Availability of Critical Data Platforms
- Act as the subject matter expert for SQL Server databases, business intelligence platforms, and supporting back-end systems.
- Maintain maximum uptime, performance, reliability, and security across enterprise database environments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related incidents, performance issues, and service disruptions.
- Participate in on-call and occasional out-of-hours support to maintain business-critical services.
Support and Enhance Enterprise Systems
- Ensure the smooth operation and optimal performance of ERM's finance systems and other SQL-dependent applications.
- Partner with software vendors and internal stakeholders to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues.
- Develop enhancements that improve performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Support integration and data flows across multiple systems and platforms.
Drive Data and Analytics Excellence
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data models, data warehouses, and analytical solutions.
- Build and optimize data pipelines that transform data into actionable business insights.
- Ensure datasets from multiple sources remain accurate, centralized, governed, and accessible.
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and reporting solutions that support strategic and operational decision-making.

Advance Microsoft Fabric and Modern Data Capabilities
- Support and enhance ERM's Microsoft Fabric environment, including analytics engineering, data orchestration, and reporting capabilities.
- Contribute to the development of scalable modern data architecture and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve data processing efficiency, reporting performance, and platform scalability.
Collaborate Across the Business
- Partner closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and technology leaders to deliver solutions that support organizational objectives.
- Help translate business requirements into technical solutions that deliver measurable value.
- Foster collaborative working relationships across teams and functions.
Deliver Technical Leadership and Operational Excellence
- Act as a trusted technical expert and escalation point for complex database and analytics challenges.
- Maintain accurate documentation, support records, and technical standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance team capability, service quality, and operational effectiveness.
- Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements that strengthen ERM's data and analytics capabilities.
