Data Operations Manager
Hybrid (UK - Multiple Locations) - £65,000-£75,000 - No Sponsorship Available
Company
Our client is a large, highly regarded organisation undergoing significant investment in its data and technology capabilities. Data sits at the heart of the business, enabling operational decision-making, supporting customer outcomes and driving strategic initiatives across the organisation.
As demand for reliable, scalable and automated data services continues to grow, the business is seeking a Data Operations Manager to lead the operational delivery and continuous improvement of its enterprise data platform.
This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking technology function where data plays a critical role in shaping business performance and innovation.
Role
As Data Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the operational leadership of the organisation's data platforms, ensuring data services are reliable, scalable, secure and aligned with business needs.
Working closely with engineering, architecture, delivery and business stakeholders, you will lead teams responsible for the development, deployment and ongoing management of data solutions, while driving best practice across DataOps, platform governance and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing Data Engineering, DataOps and associated delivery teams
- Overseeing the design, deployment and management of enterprise-scale data pipelines
- Driving automation, monitoring and continuous improvement across data operations
- Establishing robust release, deployment and environment management processes
- Ensuring data platforms operate reliably, securely and in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Supporting the deployment and operational management of machine learning and advanced analytics solutions
- Working with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions
- Defining and reporting on operational performance, service metrics and delivery outcomes
- Identifying opportunities to improve platform efficiency through new technologies, tooling and ways of working
- Building strong relationships across technology and business functions to ensure successful delivery of data initiatives

This role combines technical leadership, operational management and stakeholder engagement, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced data leader looking to influence both technology strategy and business outcomes.
Requirements
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:
- Proven experience leading Data Engineering, DataOps or Data Platform teams
- Strong understanding of data pipelines, data integration and enterprise-scale data platforms
- Experience managing production data services within complex environments
- Background in DataOps, platform operations, DevOps or cloud-based data ecosystems
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, including Data Engineers, Analysts and QA professionals
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging senior business and technology leaders
- Experience delivering technology and business change initiatives within matrix organisations
- Understanding of governance, compliance, security and operational controls within data environments
- Knowledge of deployment automation, release management and environment consistency practices
- Exposure to machine learning operationalisation and MLOps environments would be advantageous
- Experience within regulated industries such as Financial Services, Insurance, Banking or Healthcare would be beneficial
- Relevant project, programme or agile delivery certifications are desirable
