We are seeking a Data Ops Analyst to join Primark’s Data Platform & Engineering team, supporting the operational reliability, governance and release management of our modern enterprise data platform on Databricks. Working closely with Data Engineering and Platform teams, you will help ensure data products are production-ready, well monitored and fully supportable through effective incident management, deployment coordination and operational controls. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical and operational skills who is passionate about data platforms, service management, continuous improvement and delivering reliable data services at scale.

Job Description

What you'll do

  • DataOps & Release Management: Support the operational delivery of Primark’s Databricks, dbt Cloud and Azure data platforms by coordinating release readiness, deployment activities, promotion processes and production handovers.
  • Monitoring & Incident Management: Monitor production data pipelines and platform services, triage incidents and alerts, coordinate escalations and support the timely resolution of operational issues to minimise business impact.
  • Platform & Environment Support: Coordinate environment readiness, access management and operational support activities while working across Engineering, Platform, Security and SIAM teams to maintain platform stability.
  • Operational Controls & Documentation: Maintain runbooks, support guides, service documentation and operational dashboards, ensuring data products are fully supportable and production-ready.
  • Service Performance & Reporting: Track pipeline health, support demand, deployment activity and service performance metrics, providing visibility into operational trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Partner with Data Engineers, Platform teams and operational stakeholders to improve reliability, strengthen DataOps processes and promote best practices across the Data & Analytics organisation.
  • Platform Modernisation & Automation: Support the migration from Teradata to Databricks while driving automation, observability and operational efficiency improvements across monitoring, deployment and support processes.

Qualifications

What you'll bring

  • Data Operations Experience (2-4 Years): Experience working in Data Operations, Application Support, Platform Support, Data Engineering Support or a similar operational role within a data and analytics environment.
  • Data Platform & Technical Knowledge: Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, scheduling, dependencies and production support concepts, with exposure to technologies such as Databricks, dbt Cloud, Azure data services, SQL, Python and Azure DevOps.
  • Monitoring & Service Management: Experience using monitoring, alerting, incident management, ticketing or service management tools to support operational reliability and service performance.
  • Release & Environment Management: Knowledge of release management, deployment processes, environment management and operational readiness activities, with a disciplined approach to governance and change control.
  • Operational Excellence & Documentation: Experience maintaining runbooks, support documentation, handover processes and operational controls that ensure data products are reliable, observable and fully supportable.
  • Problem Solving & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate issues methodically and work effectively across Engineering, Platform, Security, Governance, SIAM and business teams.
  • Continuous Improvement & Learning Agility: Demonstrated commitment to improving operational processes, reducing recurring issues, increasing automation and building expertise across modern data platforms, DataOps practices and support tooling.
