Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Farnham House, Stevenage, with hybrid home working
Contract Type: Permanent
Directorate: Childrens Services
About The Team
In Hertfordshire, we’re driven by a simple but powerful mission: every child and young person should have the chance to live their best life — one filled with ambition, opportunity, and a true sense of belonging.
We’re looking for someone who can help turn data into valuable insight and performance improvement tools. If you’re passionate about using and understanding data to improve the lives and opportunities for children with SEND (and other vulnerable learners), this role is your chance to make a real difference.
The Intelligence and Insight team supports children and young people across Inclusion & Skills and Education services, ensuring that leaders have access to accurate, timely intelligence that drives better decisions and improved outcomes. Our vision is to create a high-quality, future-proof data environment that supports statutory responsibilities, strategic planning, and operational excellence.
You’ll work within a committed team of analysts and performance managers, alongside a wide range of colleagues from operational services, IT leads and improvement teams. Together, we help deliver performance monitoring and reporting from our Liquid Logic case management systems, as well as a range of other national and local data sources, to improve measurement of outcomes, inputs, outputs and service user experience.
About The Role
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements and support data-driven decision-making processes.
- Update and maintain regular management information, reporting and dashboards to support operational teams, services and strategic SEND and Inclusion leads.
- Interpret data and present findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner through reports, visualisations, and presentations.
- Identify data quality issues and work with relevant teams to resolve them, ensuring accuracy and reliability of data.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and respond to data-related queries from stakeholders including supporting responses to Freedom of Information requests.
- Support our development of Power BI reports and dashboards, as well as other reporting to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights.
- Support the data and information requirements for relevant statutory returns and similar requirements such as Ofsted/CQC inspections.
- Promote a culture of evidence-based decision making by forming strong relationships with service leads and teams to discuss insight, inform planning and support the confidence of colleagues to use data and information effectively.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
