Data Platform Engineer
£55,000 | Hybrid Working | East of England
Are you passionate about building modern cloud data platforms that enable businesses to make better decisions through trusted data? We're supporting a forward thinking organisation seeking a Data Platform Engineer to help develop and enhance its Azure based data platform. This is an opportunity to play a key role in building secure, scalable and reliable data pipelines that support reporting, analytics and future AI initiatives.
Working within a collaborative data function, you'll partner with Data Product Engineers, Architects, Governance teams and business stakeholders to deliver high quality, well governed data services across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and support scalable data pipelines using Azure and Databricks
- Ingest and transform data from multiple operational systems
- Develop robust ETL/ELT solutions that support reporting and analytics
- Implement data quality, validation and reconciliation processes
- Improve platform performance, reliability and cost efficiency
- Support metadata management, data lineage and governance initiatives
- Utilise Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and DevOps best practices
- Create clear technical documentation, monitoring and operational runbooks
What We're Looking For
- Commercial experience building cloud based data platforms
- Strong Databricks experience
- Strong SQL and Python development skills
- Exposure to Scala would be highly advantageous
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics or similar cloud data services
- Understanding of data governance, security and data quality principles
- Experience working with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
