Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Responsibilities
1. Relationship Management & Strategy
- Collaborate with business leaders to define how data can:
- Drive strategic objectives
- Solve critical challenges
- Uncover new opportunities
- Proactively identify high-impact use cases and data initiatives delivering measurable value (e.g., revenue growth, cost reduction, efficiency gains).
- Translate data concepts across disciplines—sraining for non-technicals, simplifying the business case for technical teams.
- Manage expectations and scope while maintaining a flexible roadmap.
- Develop product intuition by:
- Anticipating data quality issues
- Scrutinising requests for simplicity (strategically saying "no" when risks outweight benefits)
- Amplifying success to scale adoption and learning
- Enable self-sufficiency by coaching inato-matic teams to conduct preliminary investigations.
2. Demand Shaping & Portfolio Management
- Focus on "what to build and why" (your expertise), not “how” (left to AE/DA/DE/DS/DG teams) to ensure relevance, not just execution.
- While Data Teams handle timelines, you drive:
- Technical urgency → Business deadlines → Elitical prioritisation for the Craft team’s estimates.
- Translate business needs into:
- Well-defined projects with clear, measurable requirements
- Technical specifications handed to Data teams
- Manage the business unit’s data portfolio, ensuring alignment with:
- Available capacity
- Strategic priorities
- Track value realisation through:
- Monitoring business outcomes
- Reporting on ROI from completed projects/products
3. Ad-Hoc Analysis, Triage & Intake Management
- Serving as first-response triage for business data questions
- Conduct lightweight analyses where appropriate:
- SQL queries
- Exploratory analysis in Looker
- Sanity checks, hypothesis testing
- Use initial findings to:
- Answer urgent questions
- Clarify problems
- Assess feasibility, quality, and impact
- Prioritise requests:
- Escalate based on effort: Intended vs. scalable/engineering-oriented
- Hand off clearly with:
- Context
- Urgency
- Success criteria
- Identify recurring issues indicating gaps such as:
- Breakages in data quality
- Documentation/accessibility hurdles
- Enabling team adoption rather than dependency
