Role: Senior Data Protection Consultant
Location: London, Bristol, or Manchester (Hybrid; travel to the London office required approx. 1 day every 2 weeks if based outside London)
Contract Length: Initial 6 months
Day Rate: £650/day (Inside IR35)
Clearance: BPSS
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Protection Consultant to join a high-profile digital transformation initiative within the public sector.
This is a senior-level advisory role designed for a privacy professional who views data protection as a business enabler rather than a blocker. You will work directly with digital product delivery teams, software developers, and data architects to embed Privacy by Design into complex, large-scale technical environments.
Note: This is an individual contributor role focused on high-level stakeholder engagement and delivery; there are no direct line management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with software engineers, developers, and product teams to embed Privacy by Design into ongoing digital build and transformation projects.
- Provide pragmatic, solution-focused advice on complex data privacy risks, working comfortably with ambiguity to navigate technical challenges.
- Act as a key liaison between technical delivery teams and senior stakeholders, translating privacy requirements into actionable technical solutions.
- Support ongoing GDPR compliance, data sharing initiatives, and privacy assessments across digital governance functions.
What We Are Looking For
- Digital & Technical Privacy Experience: Proven track record embedding privacy into large-scale transformation, digital product delivery, or software development projects (ideally within Central Government or the wider Public Sector).
- Privacy by Design Focus: Solid experience working alongside developers and data architects. Please note: This role is strictly focused on Data Protection/Privacy rather than Information Security or Assurance.
- Pragmatic Problem Solver: Comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at delivering creative workarounds to enable delivery while managing risk.
- Senior Stakeholder Management: Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to advise and report directly to senior leadership.
- Core Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of GDPR and proficiency across Microsoft 365.

Desirable Qualifications
- Recognized privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPT, or CIPM.
