Data Protection & Compliance Consultant

Hyalli · Remote · Temporary Contract · 4 weeks

Hyalli is an proptech company building a platform that manages the UK residential lettings journey from first enquiry through to move-in.

The platform handles high-risk personal and financial data, including identity documents, Right to Rent information, affordability records, income evidence, bank details and guarantor information. We also share data with referencing, utility, broadband and insurance providers.

The Role

  • Audit how personal data is collected, used, stored, shared and deleted.
  • Complete data mapping, the ROPA and lawful-basis assessments.
  • Review privacy notices, cookies, consent wording and internal policies.
  • Review the practical retention and deletion schedule.
  • Review partner relationships, DPAs, data-sharing arrangements and international transfers.
  • Determine whether Hyalli and its partners are controllers, joint controllers or processors.
  • Review access controls and platform security from a data protection perspective.
  • Complete necessary DPIAs.
  • Assess profiling and automated decisions involving referencing, affordability and identity verification.
  • Establish procedures for data requests and breach management.
  • Advise the product and development teams on privacy by design.
  • Provide staff training and a prioritised action plan.

Experience Required

  • Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR.
  • Experience auditing live technology platforms and working with developers.
  • Experience producing ROPAs, DPIAs, retention schedules and DPAs.
  • Ability to turn legal requirements into practical controls.
  • Proptech, Right to Rent, AML or financial services experience and relevant data protection qualifications would be beneficial.
