"We are currently looking for a Data Protection Officer to join Cambridge Education Group in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
The Role
The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is responsible for providing independent advice, oversight and assurance on the organisation's compliance with Global Data Protection Laws, helping to safeguard Personal Data, protect individuals' rights, manage privacy risks and promote a culture of accountability and responsible information management across the business. Reporting into the Executive Team, the DPO informs, advises on and monitors compliance with Global Data Protection laws and is responsible for creating and maintaining appropriate Data Protection policies and procedures in cooperation with colleagues from around the business.
You will have regular access to Senior Leaders (SLT) so that you can input into the decision-making process, and the opportunity to get involved in a range of projects that help you to grow your career.
This is a high-profile, independent role that will allow you to shape the Data Privacy culture across a dynamic international organisation.

Person Specification
Education
- Educated to Degree Level or above
- Data Protection Practitioner or equivalent
Experience
- Expertise in national and European Data Protection laws and practices, including an in-depth understanding of the GDPR
- Understanding of Global Data Protection laws and compliancy for an international business
- Experience working with an international organisation with multiple cross-border and subsidiary Data Sharing
- Knowledge of the higher education sector (desirable)
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks and projects
- Ability to facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to conduct technical discussions in simple terms
- Understanding of information technologies and data security
- Ability to promote a Data Protection culture
- Ability to communicate effectively with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Executive Team
- Pro-active approach to staying informed of regulatory changes and the impact to the organisation
