Hiring: Data Protection Officer (DPO) | Insurance Domain | London, UK | Contract

π· Rate: Β£450βΒ£500/Day (Inside IR35)
Are you an experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) with deep expertise in UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and Privacy Governance? We're hiring for a leading Insurance client seeking a seasoned privacy professional to lead their UK & European data protection programme while supporting APAC privacy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the designated Data Protection Officer (DPO) for UK & European operations.
- Serve as the primary advisor on privacy and data protection matters.
- Lead privacy governance, policies, standards, and compliance initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with UK GDPR, EU GDPR, EU AI Act, and other applicable privacy regulations.
- Conduct and oversee DPIAs/PIAs and privacy risk assessments.
- Review and advise on cross-border data transfers.
- Support personal data breach investigations and regulatory notifications.
- Partner with Legal, Security, Risk, Compliance, HR, Technology, and Business teams.
- Deliver privacy awareness training and support internal/external audits.
- Provide advisory support to APAC privacy initiatives, primarily Singapore.

Mandatory Skills
- 12β18+ years of overall professional experience.
- 5+ years in Data Privacy/Data Protection leadership.
- Proven experience as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) or Deputy DPO.
- Strong expertise in:
- UK GDPR
- EU GDPR
- EU AI Act
- Privacy Governance
- Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- Cross-border Data Transfers
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

Preferred Skills
- Experience within the Insurance or Financial Services domain.
- Knowledge of Singapore/APAC privacy regulations.
- Experience with privacy platforms such as:
- OneTrust (Primary)
- Microsoft Purview
- Veronis
- Proofpoint
