BMW NSC, Farnborough - Data Protection - Placement (July 2027)

The Data & Information Protection team is responsible for providing expert guidance to the business across all relevant data privacy and information protection obligations. This includes compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (where applicable), the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), Binding Corporate Rules (BCR), the BMW Group Information Protection Framework, and all associated national legislation, statutory instruments, and codes of practice.

What awaits you?

As a Data & Information Protection Intern, you will play an active role in supporting the team across a broad range of responsibilities, including:

  • Risk & Compliance Oversight – Monitoring data and information protection risks, maintaining policies and procedures, and ensuring they remain current and fit for purpose.
  • Training & Awareness – Supporting the development and delivery of internal communications, training programmes, and company-wide awareness initiatives.
  • Incident & Breach Management – Assisting in the identification, recording, and mitigation of data and information protection incidents and breaches in a timely and effective manner.
  • Privacy by Design – Collaborating with business departments to embed Privacy by Design principles and ensure that appropriate technical and organisational security measures are identified and implemented across all processes and systems.
  • BMW Group Standards Implementation – Supporting the rollout and ongoing adherence to BMW Group standards for data protection, data privacy, and information protection.

What should you bring along?

  • Studying towards a degree in Business, Law, IT, Marketing or a relevant discipline – at 2.2 level or above.
  • An interest in data protection, with the enthusiasm to build knowledge of GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, PECR, and related regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills to promote awareness and training across the company.
  • Analytical mindset to oversee data protection risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different business units and technical teams.
  • Proactive attitude toward learning and supporting information security measures.
