Data Protection Specialist

Location: Tunbridge Wells
Contract: 6 months
Work Setup: Hybrid - 1 day in the office

What You'll Do

  • Support the DPO in developing Data Protection and AI Compliance strategies, promoting Privacy by Design and representing Data Protection at relevant meetings.
  • Lead DPIAs, LIAs, TIAs and AI risk assessments for high-risk activities, escalating significant risks and tracking remediation actions.
  • Review vendor contracts, data protection clauses, international transfers and due diligence questionnaires to manage third-party privacy risks.
  • Create, maintain and validate Records of Processing Activities, ensuring accurate documentation and effective ownership handover.
  • Manage data breaches and privacy incidents, including response procedures, investigations, root-cause analysis and remediation.
  • Deliver Data Protection and AI training, conduct second-line assurance reviews, test controls and monitor completion and effectiveness.
  • Support business teams with day-to-day privacy advice, maintain Privacy and AI registers, assess AI providers and prepare compliance updates for the DPO, ARCC and ExCo.

What You Bring

  • Specialist in data protection with at least 3 years relevant experience.
  • Experience working in the insurance or financial services is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection legislation, privacy compliance and information governance.
  • Relevant professional qualifications, such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CDPO or other IAPP certifications, are desirable.
  • Additional qualifications in data protection, privacy management or AI governance would be advantageous.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, written and verbal communication, organisational and delivery skills, with the ability to work to defined standards and deadlines.
