Portsmouth Water’s Regulation Team is seeking a Data Reporting Analyst who can thoughtfully transform complex regulatory and operational information into accurate, timely insights. You’ll nurture how the business understands its performance by developing dynamic Power BI reports and turning raw data into meaningful intelligence that supports confident, well-informed decision-making.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
- Gathering and compassionately compiling data from various sources
- Working within a Regulatory framework, ensuring data and information is accurate, timely and assured
- Utilising Power BI reports to meet business needs with care and clarity
- Using supportive analytical methods and tools to interpret data, uncover trends and gently derive insights
- Monthly reporting in line with business activity, including internal assurance
- Applying thoughtful techniques to anticipate future trends or outcomes based on historical data
- Ad-hoc data gathering, collation and reporting as requested by the business
- Assisting with various project activities to help ensure successful delivery in a high-pressure environment
- Bringing strong attention to detail and a continual improvement mindset
- Collaborating with stakeholders to identify reporting requirements and provide meaningful data insights
- Presenting findings through visualisations that make complex data more understandable and actionable
- Holding responsibility for Regulatory inbox
What do you need?
Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
- Interpreting data, analysing results and reporting on a variety of business metrics
- Developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that enhance statistical efficiency and quality
- Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources
- Identifying and removing corrupted data and resolving related issues with care
- Clearly communicating findings, both written and orally, to non-technical stakeholders — including creating reports and presentations that gently guide people through insights
- Strong organisation skills
- Demonstrating curiosity for understanding key datasets and their drivers, with an ability for intuitive and critical thinking
- Continual personal development by learning new skills and staying aware of emerging technological trends
- Working collaboratively as part of a team
- Experience using analytical tools like Power BI, Excel and similar applications
- Experience meeting deadlines in a highly regulated environment

If you are successful for the role, you will be required to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) pre-employment checks that will include a basic disclosure check. Depending on the role, you may also be required to go through the national security vetting process for either a CTC or SC clearance check. Any offer of employment is conditional upon completion and receipt of satisfactory checks.
