Summary of Job Role
Gibson are seeking a Data Research Intern to join the Consultancy & Research team based in London. This is an ideal entry level role for a recent graduate interested in developing a career within commercial shipping.
Candidates should have basic shipping market knowledge whilst any experience in the energy markets would also be advantageous. A strong eye for detail, inquisitive nature, and high level of accuracy is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Research, collate and accurately update Gibson’s proprietary databases including freight rates, fixtures, vessel characteristics and other relevant market information.
- Support Gibson’s shipbrokers and broking clients research requests, including but not limited to, assembling, organising and distributing data sets, reports, charts, preparing presentations and analysis.
- Compile daily, monthly and weekly market reports.
- Support Gibson’s role as a London Tanker Brokers Panel (LTBP) member.

Essential Skills/Experience
- Good experience with MS Excel
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail/accuracy
- Excellent teamwork and ability to learn fast
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Oil/energy market knowledge
- Database updating experience
- Advanced excel/modelling skills
Role Details
- 3-month fixed-term internship, with potential to extend.
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday.
- Location: London office
