About The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join Balfour Beatty as a Data Risk Analyst, you will support the development, maintenance, analysis, and reporting of robust, evidence-based risk data across both the baseline risk process and in-flight delivery stage. The role will provide technical data, quantification, assurance, and reporting support to ensure risk information is accurate, complete, consistent, and auditable, and aligned with the agreed competency framework, project governance requirements, and client-facing outputs. The role will also support improvements in risk data quality, system integrity, and analytical insight across projects and the wider business.
What you'll be doing
- Maintain accurate, structured, and auditable risk registers and associated risk datasets across Stage 1 and Stage 2 Project Lifecycles.
- Support collaborative risk identification, root-cause analysis, risk structuring, data cleansing, reconciliation, and validation.
- Monitor risk data quality and completeness, identify inconsistencies and gaps, and work with project teams to resolve data issues.
- Support the effective use of risk systems, reporting tools, and analytical models, maintaining appropriate controls, version discipline, and traceability over risk data.
- Assist with the preparation, review, and interpretation of QCRA and QSRA inputs and outputs, ensuring source data and assumptions are appropriately recorded.
- Produce clear dashboards, reports, and portfolio-level analysis that translate risk data into meaningful management information.
- Track risk actions, mitigation measures, contingency information, and changes in exposure, escalating overdue or incomplete data where appropriate.
Expected outputs: accurate risk registers and datasets, quantified exposure reporting, data-quality checks, inherent risk justification evidence, residual cost and schedule exposure data, mitigation and contingency information, GTIC/BTIC-ready risk outputs, client-facing register extracts, live risk updates, compensation event support data, project and group-level reporting, dashboards, and portfolio insight.

Who we're looking for
- Working towards professional certification such as Institute of Risk Management membership or APM Risk Practitioner is desirable.
- Degree in a relevant technical, data, analytical, or management discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience working in a Data Risk Analyst, Risk Analyst, or risk-data-focused role within a medium to large organization.
- Strong understanding of risk and control processes and their application across complex business environments.
- Experience of data validation, cleansing, reconciliation, quality assurance, and maintenance of appropriate audit trails.
- Strong analytical and data-management capability, including experience developing, validating, and interpreting cost, schedule, and business risk models.
- Knowledge of QCRA and QSRA principles and the data requirements that support quantitative analysis.
- Knowledge of risk management, project management, and project controls methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to structure, analyze, and present complex risk data clearly.
- Ability to translate risk data into clear, meaningful insight for project teams, senior management, and client stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Ability to work effectively within project teams and wider business environments.
