Senior Data Scientist, Data Science Manager

Location: Southampton area
On-site requirement: 2-3 days a month minimum.

About the Role

You will be leading and managing a Data Science team (of 2) to deliver machine learning and advanced analytics solutions that improve customer insight, drive commercial decision-making, and enable personalization across a retail organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Data Science team.
  • Roadmap Ownership: Own and deliver the Data Science roadmap, prioritizing work based on business value.
  • Model Development: Oversee the development and deployment of machine learning models, including churn, customer lifetime value, forecasting, segmentation, and recommendation.
  • Solution Delivery: Ensure solutions are scalable, robust, governed, and production-ready.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate commercial challenges into data-driven solutions.
  • Best Practices: Drive best practice in data science, model governance, and technical delivery.
  • Business Value: Deliver measurable business value through the effective use of data science.

  • Proven experience leading Data Science teams in a commercial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning, statistics, Python, and SQL.
  • Experience developing and deploying predictive models using customer and commercial data.
  • Experience with cloud analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery).
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Commercially focused with the ability to prioritize and deliver high-impact outcomes.
