About The Role
The Data Scientist Consultant role offers an exciting opportunity to work fully remotely within a dynamic organization that is at the forefront of financial services innovation. This position is ideal for a data professional with a strong background in credit risk and financial analytics, seeking to apply their expertise in a challenging and impactful environment. As part of the team, you will develop sophisticated predictive models, risk scorecards, and analytical solutions that directly influence credit decisioning and risk management strategies. The role requires a proactive individual capable of translating complex data into actionable insights, supporting the organization’s ongoing efforts to enhance its credit analytics capabilities using modern cloud technologies and advanced machine learning techniques.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess recent hands-on experience within financial services, particularly in credit risk, lending, credit bureaux, or commercial credit analytics. Strong proficiency in building predictive models, risk scorecards, or decisioning solutions within a regulated environment is essential. Candidates should have proven experience working with large-scale credit and financial datasets, demonstrating a solid understanding of data cleansing, auditing, and analysis techniques. Technical skills must include advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, coupled with practical experience applying statistical and machine learning methods to solve complex commercial or risk-related challenges. Experience working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments is highly desirable, along with a good understanding of model development lifecycle, governance, validation, and version control practices. Excellent stakeholder management skills are required to effectively communicate technical insights to non-technical audiences and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement predictive models, credit risk scorecards, and advanced analytical solutions leveraging large-scale financial and commercial datasets.
- Prepare, audit, cleanse, and analyze complex credit and business data to generate actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines to facilitate machine learning workflows and analytical processes.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand commercial and risk challenges, translating these into data-driven solutions that enhance credit decisioning processes.
- Communicate analytical findings through compelling visualizations and clear, business-focused reports to support decision-making at various organizational levels.
- Support the adoption and integration of modern cloud technologies, machine learning techniques, and best practices in analytics across teams.
- Ensure compliance with model governance, validation standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the model development lifecycle.
