About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our client’s dynamic team within the retail sector. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects that directly influence customer experience and business performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing advanced analytical models, deriving actionable insights from complex datasets, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into innovative data solutions. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in data science techniques, a passion for solving business problems through data, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The role is based in London and offers a competitive daily rate, outside IR35, with an initial contract duration that can extend based on project needs.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise and business acumen, including:
- Proven experience applying data science techniques within a commercial environment, particularly in retail or related sectors.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, including libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow or PyTorch for machine learning and statistical analysis.
- Strong SQL skills with experience working with large-scale datasets and data warehousing solutions.
- Experience building predictive models, customer segmentation, propensity scoring, forecasting, and recommendation systems.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex analytical results into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models to support customer engagement, marketing strategies, and commercial initiatives.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that can inform strategic decision-making.
- Create segmentation, propensity, forecasting, and recommendation models tailored to business needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across marketing, operations, and commercial teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Present analytical findings and strategic recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical teams and executive leadership.
- Support the continuous improvement of data science methodologies, best practices, and model performance monitoring frameworks.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in data science and analytics to ensure the organization remains at the cutting edge of innovation.
