About The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced quantitative developer to join our Treasury Markets Data Science team. In this role, you will be responsible for owning and maintaining the production infrastructure that underpins our foreign exchange (FX) pricing, risk management, and trading systems. The position offers an exciting opportunity to expand your expertise into traditional quantitative finance domains, including model development, risk analysis, and trading strategies. Your work will directly influence Wise’s mission and impact millions of customers by ensuring the robustness, accuracy, and efficiency of our financial systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including traders, analysts, product managers, and engineers, to translate complex quantitative insights into practical, customer-facing solutions. This role requires a strong technical foundation, a product-oriented mindset, and a passion for financial markets and data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience building and maintaining production Python systems
- Strong expertise in microservices architecture, databases, and production infrastructure management
- Experience with streaming systems, real-time data pipelines, or event-driven architectures such as Kafka, Flink, Redis, etc.
- Quantitative background in mathematics, physics, engineering, or finance
- Ability to interpret models and reason about their correctness and robustness
- Experience with testing, monitoring, and debugging complex systems under load
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and operational excellence
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Nice-to-have skills include:
- FX or financial markets experience
- Knowledge of term structure modeling, stochastic calculus, Monte Carlo methods, interest rate curve bootstrapping, algorithmic execution
- Experience with data lakes or warehouses such as Snowflake, Iceberg, or Spark
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python microservices that run quantitative models in production environments
- Monitor, alert, and ensure the reliability and uptime of real-time pricing and risk systems
- Contribute to shared quant libraries used across multiple services and teams
- Design, implement, and improve CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment and operational excellence
- Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Assist in the development of real-time financial instruments such as yield curves, FX forwards, and volatility surfaces
- Build and validate pricing models for new financial products and instruments
- Collaborate with trading and risk teams to develop and optimize trading strategies and risk models (VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis)
- Design backtesting frameworks and conduct model validation to ensure accuracy and robustness
- Support customer behavior modeling, pricing strategies, and product launches
- Work closely with product teams to translate quantitative insights into actionable business decisions
