Data Scientist

Leeds (Hybrid: 1-2 days onsite per week)
£70,000 - £75,000 + 10% Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Gravitas is partnering with a leading UK organisation to recruit an experienced Data Scientist to join a growing data function. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping a modern data and AI capability, working across the full data science lifecycle while helping drive the adoption of Microsoft Fabric and advanced analytics.

You'll work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and BI professionals to deliver predictive models, actionable insights, and scalable data solutions that directly influence commercial decision-making and customer outcomes.

Role

Reporting to the Head of, you will be responsible for developing advanced analytical solutions, building predictive models, and supporting the evolution of a modern enterprise data platform.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with stakeholders across the business to understand strategic priorities and identify opportunities where data science can create measurable value.
  • Transforming complex datasets into meaningful insights, recommendations, and data products that support better decision-making.
  • Applying advanced analytics, machine learning, AI, and statistical techniques to solve business challenges and improve performance.
  • Designing, developing, deploying, and optimising predictive, propensity, and optimisation models focused on customer acquisition, retention, cross-sell opportunities, customer lifetime value, and margin improvement.
  • Exploring emerging technologies and AI capabilities to improve efficiency, scalability, and commercial outcomes.
  • Supporting the ongoing implementation and adoption of Microsoft Fabric, helping to establish modern and scalable data science and analytics capabilities.
  • Collaborating with Data Engineering teams to integrate and operationalise internal and external data sources while maintaining high standards of data quality and governance.
  • Contributing to the development of data pipelines, APIs, integrations, and reusable data assets within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
  • Producing high-quality documentation for models, methodologies, datasets, and projects.
  • Working alongside BI and Reporting teams to deliver impactful dashboards, visualisations, and data products for both technical and non-technical audiences.

About You

We're looking for a commercially minded Data Scientist who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for solving real-world business problems.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical role.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, and SQL.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities where data-driven solutions can deliver business value.
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and optimisation algorithms.
  • Experience working with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Qlik, or Matplotlib.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and modern data platform architectures, including lakehouse concepts, analytics, and AI capabilities, is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams and delivering solutions through iterative development.
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline.
