About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our client’s dynamic team on a contract basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established retail organization that is heavily investing in its analytics capabilities. As a Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying predictive models to enhance customer engagement, optimize marketing strategies, and improve overall commercial performance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, and commercial units to translate complex business requirements into actionable analytical solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in applying data science techniques within a commercial environment, with the ability to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate a combination of technical expertise and business acumen, including:

  • Proven experience applying data science techniques in a commercial setting, preferably within retail or consumer-focused industries.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, including libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow for statistical analysis, machine learning, and data manipulation.
  • Strong SQL skills with extensive experience working with large-scale datasets and data warehousing solutions.
  • Experience developing various predictive models, such as segmentation, propensity scoring, forecasting, and recommendation systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex analytical insights in a clear and compelling manner to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is highly desirable.
  • Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models to support various customer, marketing, and commercial initiatives.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights that can inform strategic decisions.
  • Build segmentation, propensity, forecasting, and recommendation models to enhance personalization and targeting efforts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand their analytical needs and translate them into effective solutions.
  • Communicate findings and insights through reports, dashboards, and presentations tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Monitor and optimize model performance over time, ensuring accuracy and relevance in a rapidly changing retail environment.
  • Support the continuous improvement of data science practices and contribute to the development of best practices and standards within the organization.
