About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Data Science Lead to join our Data Products Leadership Team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping the future of Data Science within IAG Loyalty, leading a talented team of Data Scientists while remaining actively involved in the technical delivery of machine learning solutions. Your primary focus will be on solving complex customer, marketing, and commercial challenges by developing innovative models that drive measurable business outcomes. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Engineers, Analysts, and senior stakeholders across various departments to identify high-impact opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and turn data-driven insights into production-ready solutions. Success in this role is measured by the tangible business value generated, including improved customer engagement, increased profitability, and enhanced operational efficiency. Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering Data Science solutions with measurable commercial impact
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and model development
- Experience in customer, marketing, or commercial Data Science applications such as recommendation systems, pricing, propensity modeling, uplift modeling, or experimentation
- Hands-on experience in building and deploying production-ready Machine Learning models
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring Data Scientists and fostering a collaborative team environment
- Knowledge of cloud-based Machine Learning platforms, MLOps, Large Language Models (LLMs), or Agentic AI is advantageous
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align data science initiatives with strategic commercial objectives
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments and prioritize high-impact projects
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field is preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Data Scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and high performance
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable Machine Learning models that address key business challenges
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, Analysts, and stakeholders to identify opportunities where Data Science can add value
- Translate complex business problems into well-defined data science use cases and solutions
- Prioritize a product backlog of data science initiatives based on potential business impact and technical feasibility
- Ensure that all solutions have clear success metrics and deliver measurable commercial outcomes
- Champion experimentation, responsible AI practices, and continuous improvement within the data science community
- Contribute to shaping the Data Science roadmap and influence the strategic direction of data-driven initiatives
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies to ensure the team remains at the forefront of innovation
