About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join a well-established retail organization that is dedicated to leveraging data-driven insights to enhance customer experiences and improve commercial outcomes. This is a contract position based in London, outside IR35, offering an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects within a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing advanced analytical models that support strategic decision-making across various business functions, including marketing, operations, and customer engagement.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in applying data science techniques within a commercial setting. You should have advanced proficiency in Python, with experience in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data manipulation. Solid SQL skills and experience working with large datasets are essential. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is advantageous. Additionally, you should have excellent communication skills, enabling you to convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences effectively. A degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy predictive models to support customer segmentation, marketing strategies, and commercial initiatives.
  • Analyze large-scale customer and transactional datasets to uncover actionable insights that drive business growth.
  • Build various models including segmentation, propensity scoring, forecasting, and recommendation systems to enhance decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across marketing, operations, and commercial teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective analytical solutions.
  • Present analytical findings and strategic recommendations clearly and convincingly to both technical teams and executive leadership.
  • Support the continuous improvement of data science methodologies, tools, and best practices within the organization.
  • Monitor and evaluate model performance over time, ensuring accuracy and relevance in a dynamic retail environment.
