Role/Team overview
We're part of Europe's leading entertainment and communications company, serving more than 22 million customers across five countries. Within Sky Data, the OTT Data Science & Optimisation team partners with stakeholders across the UK, Italy and Ireland to use data, machine learning and AI to improve customer experiences and drive commercial growth across our streaming services.
As a Data Scientist, you'll work on high-impact initiatives spanning customer acquisition, engagement, retention and personalisation. You'll combine large-scale behavioural data, experimentation, advanced analytics and predictive modelling to identify opportunities, optimise customer journeys and support key business decisions.
Working closely with Product, Marketing, Commercial and Technology teams, you'll help develop scalable data science solutions that influence how millions of customers discover, engage with and enjoy our content. This is an exciting opportunity to apply cutting-edge data science and AI techniques to real customer and business problems at scale in a fast-paced international environment.
What you'll do
- Develop strong relationships with stakeholders across Group territories, build a deep understanding of business objectives and translate requirements into impactful data science solutions.
- Identify commercial opportunities through data analysis and predictive modelling to improve decision-making and business outcomes.
- Design, develop and deploy machine learning models and predictive analytics solutions to optimise customer journeys and commercial outcomes.
- Develop, refine and scale data science procedures, frameworks and best practices to improve efficiency, consistency and impact.
- Identify and apply AI, Generative AI and Agentic AI techniques to enhance data science workflows, analytics capabilities and business processes.

What you’ll bring
Essential criteria:
- Demonstrable experience applying statistical, machine learning and optimisation techniques to solve complex business problems.
- Programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Experience working with large-scale customer, transactional or behavioural datasets using cloud data platforms and distributed processing technologies.
- A positive, can-do attitude and the adaptability to work with quickly evolving objectives, with the ability to communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
- High levels of logical thinking and problem-solving, with the ability to address complex problems using innovative and industry-leading techniques.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Understanding of modern AI techniques, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Agentic AI frameworks.

How you will work
We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 2 days in the office per week.
Your office base
Our Sky Group HQ. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and workspaces, there’s plenty of space to see your big ideas come to life. Here you’ll find 13 subsidised restaurants and cafes. You can re-energise at our gym, catch the latest films at our cinema, get your car washed and even get pampered at our beauty salon.
Our Osterley Campus is just a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station, or you can get one of our free shuttle buses from Osterley, Gunnersbury and Ealing Broadway stations. Plus, there’s free onsite parking available for cars, motorbikes and bicycles.
