Introducing the Trainline Customer Growth Team 👋

The Customer Growth team helps Trainline understand and improve how our marketing builds awareness, consideration and long-term customer growth. As a Data Scientist specialising in Marketing Measurement, you will shape how we evaluate marketing performance, turning complex and imperfect data into clear recommendations that support high-value commercial decisions.

You will take ownership of a varied portfolio of focused, fast-moving measurement projects, using Python, causal inference and geo-experimentation to understand marketing impact. Working closely with marketing, analytics and other cross-functional partners, you will combine multiple signals where no single measurement approach provides the full answer, helping stakeholders make informed decisions with confidence.

In this role as the Data Scientist, you will... 🚄

  • Design and deliver robust approaches for measuring the effectiveness and incremental impact of marketing activity.
  • Use Python, causal inference and geo-experimentation techniques to analyse performance and generate commercially relevant insights.
  • Combine evidence from multiple data sources and measurement methods to provide a clear and balanced view where no single solution is definitive.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into practical recommendations that enable marketing stakeholders to make informed investment decisions.
  • Partner closely with marketing, analytics and other cross-functional teams to define measurement questions, shape project scope and align on successful outcomes.
  • Manage several focused analytical projects at the same time, balancing pace, quality and business value across competing priorities.
  • Apply pragmatic judgement when working with incomplete or imperfect data, clearly communicating assumptions, limitations and levels of confidence.
  • Contribute to the continued development of Trainline's marketing measurement capabilities, identifying opportunities to improve methods, tools and ways of working.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
