About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join a well-established retail organization committed to harnessing data to improve customer experience and optimize business performance. This contract role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative team environment, where your analytical expertise will directly influence strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will develop and implement advanced predictive models, analyze large datasets, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong foundation in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data manipulation, capable of communicating findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience applying data science techniques within a commercial or retail environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, including libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow, for statistical analysis and machine learning.
  • Strong SQL skills with extensive experience working with large-scale datasets.
  • Experience developing predictive models, customer segmentation, propensity scoring, forecasting, and recommendation systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex analytical insights to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is highly desirable.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy predictive models to support customer engagement, marketing strategies, and commercial initiatives.
  • Analyze extensive customer and transactional data to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights that inform business decisions.
  • Create segmentation, propensity, forecasting, and recommendation models to enhance personalization and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with marketing, operations, and commercial teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective analytical solutions.
  • Present complex findings and strategic recommendations to both technical teams and executive stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Monitor and evaluate model performance, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in data science.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in data science and analytics to incorporate innovative techniques and tools into the organization’s practices.
