About The Role

This position is embedded within HMRC's Data Science Services Low/No Code team, a pioneering group at the forefront of leveraging low-code technology to drive operational excellence. The role involves developing innovative solutions using tools such as Power Platform, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and emerging AI capabilities like Co-Pilot Studio and AI Builder. You will work collaboratively with data scientists, data engineers, IT professionals, and business stakeholders to design, develop, and support interactive applications, dashboards, automation workflows, and AI-powered solutions that have a tangible impact across the department.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that support HMRC's strategic objectives—such as enhancing tax collection, streamlining customer interactions, and supporting wider government economic initiatives. You will play a key part in transforming complex data into accessible visualizations and automated processes that facilitate informed decision-making and improve operational efficiency. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in Power Platform development, with demonstrable experience in Power Apps and Power Automate. A background in data science, data engineering, or related fields is desirable, along with a keen interest in exploring new technological capabilities within the Power Platform ecosystem. Effective communication skills are essential, enabling you to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across teams. Knowledge of AI tools such as AI Builder, Co-Pilot Studio, and Co-Pilot Agents is advantageous but not mandatory.

Candidates should demonstrate curiosity, a proactive approach to learning, and an understanding of project delivery methodologies. A background in ethical considerations related to data handling and AI applications is also beneficial. The role requires a commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for leveraging technology to solve real-world business challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Power Apps solutions that support core business processes and operational teams, ensuring usability and scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, demonstrate prototypes, and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Build and optimize Power Automate workflows to automate manual tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
  • Create insightful dashboards and reports using Power BI to facilitate data analysis and support strategic decision-making.
  • Work with diverse data sources, including data extraction, transformation, and integration, to ensure data quality and accessibility.
  • Investigate new features and capabilities within the Power Platform, including AI integration, to enhance business value.
  • Support and mentor citizen developers and promote best practices in low-code development within the organization.
  • Participate in agile project teams, contributing to the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of solutions.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to security, compliance, and ethical standards, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.
