Data Scientist III - Hotels.com Analytics

Expedia Group is seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist III to join our Hotels.com Analytics team. In this role, you will own analytics for some of Hotels.com’s most important growth domains – such as customer growth, loyalty & retention, large‑scale merchandizing campaigns, and website performance.

You will frame ambiguous questions, design and execute rigorous analyses and experiments, and translate insights into decisions that shape the Hotels.com strategic priorities, product roadmap, and marketing tactics. You’ll work closely with product, marketing, supply, and collaborate with central analytics teams. Using tools like SQL, experimentation platforms, and occasionally Python, you will drive impact at scale.

This is a high‑impact, individual contributor role where your work will directly influence how millions of travelers discover, choose, and book hotels on Hotels.com.

In This Role, You Will

  • Deep dive into Hotels.com customers and booking data to uncover patterns, diagnose issues, and suggest clear growth and optimization paths.
  • Design, conduct, and analyze experiments (A/B tests, Pre/Post) for product and marketing initiatives, leveraging industry best practices and internal experimentation platforms.
  • Develop and leverage a best‑in‑class analytical toolkit (SQL, Python, statistical and causal methods, experimentation frameworks) to extract insights and make data‑driven recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (Hotels.com Product, Loyalty, Marketing, Supply, as well as other Analytics teams) to identify key business challenges and provide analytical insights and recommendations to support decision‑making.
  • Drive action to improve Hotels.com KPIs (such as revenue, engagement, retention, and marketplace health), utilizing the 80/20 rule to focus effort on the most impactful results. Demonstrate creativity and persistence in overcoming roadblocks.
  • Develop and maintain clear and user‑friendly dashboards and reports to track and analyze KPIs (e.g., customer value, engagement, campaign outcomes). Train stakeholders on their usage.
  • Be curious and constantly monitor key metrics and trends to proactively suggest actions, test ideas, or highlight business opportunities for Hotels.com.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
