About The Role
VIQU IT is currently seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join an NHS client on a 6-month contract basis. This pivotal role involves developing sophisticated workforce demand and supply models that are essential for strategic healthcare planning. The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming NHS workforce forecasting through advanced analytics, simulation modeling, and evidence-based decision-making. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that directly influence healthcare service delivery and policy development. The role is flexible in terms of location, allowing for remote work, with the option to work from Cardiff. Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess proven experience as a Data Scientist within complex, data-rich environments. Strong proficiency in Python is essential, particularly in building, maintaining, and enhancing analytical or simulation models. Knowledge of system dynamics modeling, simulation engines, or forecasting methodologies is highly desirable. Candidates should have a good understanding of NHS data, including activity, demand, referral, population health, or workforce data, and how these influence service planning. Additionally, expertise in SQL for extracting, manipulating, and analyzing large datasets is required. Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Excel, and R will be advantageous. A relevant degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine workforce planning models that support long-term healthcare workforce forecasting and demand planning initiatives.
- Analyze complex datasets to identify trends related to workforce inflows, outflows, activity patterns, and service demand within NHS settings.
- Utilize system dynamics and simulation modeling techniques to enhance existing models and develop new forecasting capabilities.
- Translate operational data, research evidence, and stakeholder requirements into robust analytical models and actionable insights.
- Collaborate effectively with workforce planning and analytical teams to deliver modeling projects within tight deadlines.
- Create visualizations, reports, and dashboards to communicate modeling results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
