About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our client’s dynamic team on a contract basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established retail organization that is heavily investing in its data analytics capabilities. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for developing advanced predictive models and analytical solutions that directly influence business strategies and operational decisions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, and commercial units to translate complex data insights into actionable business recommendations. This position requires a proactive individual with strong technical expertise and the ability to communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The contract offers a competitive daily rate of £500-£650 and is outside IR35, providing flexibility and attractive remuneration for the right candidate.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical proficiency and practical experience, including:
- Extensive experience applying data science techniques within a commercial or retail environment.
- Proficiency in Python, with a focus on statistical analysis, machine learning, and data manipulation libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow.
- Strong SQL skills, with experience working with large-scale datasets and data warehousing solutions.
- Proven ability to build and deploy predictive models, customer segmentation, propensity scoring, forecasting, and recommendation engines.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex analytical insights clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this role include:
- Design, develop, and deploy predictive models to support customer engagement, marketing strategies, and commercial initiatives.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover actionable insights that can inform strategic decisions.
- Create segmentation, propensity, forecasting, and recommendation models tailored to business needs.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across marketing, operations, and commercial teams to understand their requirements and translate them into effective analytical solutions.
- Communicate findings through clear reports, dashboards, and presentations suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Continuously monitor and improve model performance, ensuring alignment with best practices in data science and analytics.
- Support the development of data science methodologies and contribute to a culture of data-driven decision-making within the organization.
