About The Role
As a Lead Data Scientist within Kainos’ Workday Products division, you will play a pivotal role in actively contributing to the AI solutions powering our rapidly expanding suite of Workday products—including Kainos Smart (Smart Test, Smart Audit, and Smart Shield), Employee Document Management, and Pay Transparency Analyzer. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the design and delivery of advanced AI and machine learning solutions that enhance the functionality, scalability, and efficiency of our products.
You will focus on innovative solutions such as predictive analytics for workforce planning, anomaly detection in financial processes, and intelligent automation for Workday applications. Collaborating closely with clients, you will ensure our solutions meet their needs while mentoring your team members and providing thought leadership across the organization. This role also involves line management responsibilities, including the development, performance appraisal, and career growth of your team members.
Qualifications
- Typically 8+ years of relevant industry experience or a relevant PhD with 4-5 years of industry experience
- Significant experience applying advanced statistical techniques, machine learning, and AI principles to solve complex business problems
- Strong programming skills in Python, with an emphasis on writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code for scalable AI/ML solutions
- Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
- Proven expertise in designing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade AI/ML solutions, including pipelines and MLOps practices
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including leveraging native AI tools
- Experience in data engineering, including data wrangling, cleansing, and pipeline creation
- Ability to create interactive dashboards and visual analytics using tools like Streamlit, Plotly, or Dash
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience in managing data science teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of managing client engagements and translating business needs into technical solutions

Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI and machine learning solutions within the Workday product suite
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Mentor and manage data science team members, supporting their professional growth and performance
- Implement and oversee MLOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, and monitoring
- Design scalable AI/ML pipelines and integrate them seamlessly with enterprise systems such as Workday
- Develop and deploy generative AI use cases leveraging large language models for tasks like conversational AI and content summarization
- Utilize containerization and orchestration tools to build cloud-native AI systems
- Maintain and improve data pipelines, ensuring data quality and integrity for analytical and operational purposes
- Create dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders
- Stay updated with the latest AI research and industry trends, contributing to internal knowledge sharing activities
