About the Role
As a member of the C3 AI Data Science team, you will collaborate with some of the largest enterprises worldwide. Your role involves:
- Designing, building, and implementing next-generation AI-powered enterprise applications on the C3 AI Platform (c3.ai/customers/).
- Partnering with data scientists, software engineers, and subject matter experts to define and deliver new analytics capabilities.
- Helping organisations make data-driven decisions by identifying machine learning and data mining algorithms tailored for scalability.
- Contributing to the development and optimisation of AI solutions that operate at enterprise scale.

This position invites qualified candidates with strong expertise in machine learning techniques and their applications, including understanding their limitations and large-scale adaptations. Some travel is expected.
Responsibilities
- Lead the research, design, and implantation of machine learning algorithms, intelligent agents, and optimisation solutions for enterprise applications using the C3 AI Suite.
- Assist customers in building their own applications on the C3 AI Suite.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new features for the C3 AI Suite.
- Analyse model performance, troubleshoot issues (e.g., low-risk scores or false positives), and recommend hyperparameter optimisations.
- Collaborate with data experts and subject matter specialists at C3 AI and our customer teams to:
- Define data needs
- Validate data sources
- Interpret and apply new data elements effectively
Qualifications
Required
- Degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or related fields.
- Applied AI experience, including:
- Generative AI
- Agentic AI solutions
- Regression, classification, and supervised/unsupervised learning techniques
- Strong foundation in mathematics, covering:
- Linear algebra
- Calculus
- Probability and statistics
- Experience with scalable ML, including MapReduce or streaming techniques.
- Ability to drive projects independently while demonstrating strong team collaboration skills.
- Self-motivation and a problem-solving mindset with a desire to make a meaningful impact.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred
- Experience with JavaScript and prototyping languages such as Python or R.
- Familiarity with Java or Scala adds value.
- Public-facing portfolio (e.g., GitHub projects or research papers) is a strong asset.
