Data Scientist
Contract - 420 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract length - Initial 6 month contract (opportunity for further extension for up to 2 years)
Hybrid working - x2 days per week in office (Central Manchester)
Spencer Rose are hiring on behalf of a leading financial services organisation based in Manchester who are on the look out for an experienced Data Scientist. Within this role, the Data Scientist will translate business problems into scalable AI solutions, developing end-to-end machine learning models and GenAI applications.

Responsibilities
- Develop, train and optimise Machine Learning, NLP and Generative AI solutions.
- Build end-to-end modelling pipelines from data preparation through to production handover.
- Utilise BigQuery and BigQuery ML for experimentation, analytics and model development.
- Design and evaluate LLM based solutions, including Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) approaches.
- Define testing frameworks, model evaluation metrics and experimentation strategies.
- Produce model documentation, model cards and governance ready evidence.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, ML Engineers and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.

Skills/Experience
- 8+ years' experience in Data Science, Machine Learning Engineering or Applied AI.
- Strong Python-based machine learning and NLP development experience.
- Proven track record of delivering classical ML and LLM-based solutions.
- Experience designing experiments, evaluating model performance and communicating insights.
- Knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI practices and model documentation.
