Data Scientist | Manchester City Centre | Hybrid | Bonus + Benefits
Most data roles let you build models. This one lets you see them change how a business runs. Our client is an ethical, meritocratic Financial Services business in the heart of Manchester. It's a place where analytics isn't a support function; it drives how the business operates. You'll be surrounded by bright, curious colleagues, where good ideas win regardless of who they come from.
What you'll actually be doing
- Hunting down trends, patterns and anomalies, and explaining why they matter
- Building and maintaining statistical models (regression, time series, predictive) that directly improve how operations run
- Writing Python and SQL to clean, shape and automate data pipelines
- Working side by side with operations teams to find efficiency gains, then designing the fix
- Presenting your findings to senior leadership and the board in plain English, not jargon

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
