Data Science & AI Consultant
Location: Bristol, London, or Manchester (Hybrid working)
Security Clearance: Active DV clearance is essential
Salary: £45,000-70,000 DOE
As a Data Science & AI Consultant, you will work with Defence and Security clients to solve complex, mission-critical challenges using data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The role involves developing and deploying innovative AI solutions, from initial research and prototyping through to production-ready applications, while helping clients improve decision-making and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply data science, machine learning, and AI techniques to solve complex Defence and Security challenges.
- Design, develop, and deploy AI-enabled solutions from concept and prototype through to production.
- Analyse structured and unstructured data to generate insights and support decision-making.
- Research and implement emerging technologies, including Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions.
- Produce technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for client stakeholders.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, designers, analysts, and delivery managers.
- Advise clients on AI strategy, adoption, and responsible use of AI technologies.

- Experience applying data science, machine learning, or AI techniques in Defence, Security, Public Sector, Industry, or Research environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and data science toolsets for data analysis, modelling, and AI development.
- Knowledge of machine learning approaches including statistical modelling, supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, transformers, and generative AI.
- Experience delivering solutions across the AI/ML lifecycle, from data exploration and prototyping to deployment and operational support.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, or Hugging Face.
- Experience working with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Understanding of MLOps practices, model evaluation, and scalable AI deployment.
