The role

The Data Serving Platform team sits at the centre of G-Research's core datasets, owning a suite of data-serving components responsible for massively parallelised access to data across our compute environment. The team provides both live and historical views of data, supporting critical workflows across the firm.

The vision is to create a simple, robust and user-friendly system that connects data providers and consumers, enabling them to seamlessly share data and analytics.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Designing, building and evolving production-grade trading platforms and services end-to-end
  • Optimising software performance, throughput and efficiency at scale
  • Contributing to the reliability and operational excellence of critical systems
  • Applying strong software engineering practices across testing, code quality, automation and observability
  • Participating in a shared production support rotation, responding to incidents, troubleshooting runtime issues and driving improvements

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong competency with at least one typed language such as Java, C# or C++
  • Experience optimising software performance or efficiency

Desirable:

  • Experience with distributed software systems
  • Experience with data processing or data serving systems
  • Experience using Rust, C#, Python, Parquet, Arrow, Delta Lake or Kubernetes
