What you’ll do

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Systems Engineer to help design, implement and evolve our data platforms. You will work across transactional databases, data integration and analytical platforms, ensuring that our systems are scalable, reliable, secure and fit for business needs. As a member of the data technology team, you will play a key role in driving the architecture and operation of our business-critical financial database systems.

This role is ideal for an engineer who has a solid understanding of data systems architecture, hands-on experience with modernisation of complex database platforms and is passionate about leveraging technology to drive business success.

Key responsibilities

Design and Architecture:

  • Design new scalable, reliable and secure database solutions across a range of technologies including PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, Redis and SQL Server.
  • Modernise business-critical financial OLTP SQL Server datastores.
  • Design reliable data integration solutions, including CDC, replication and data synchronisation between transactional systems and analytical platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Act as a technical authority for data platform technologies, working with engineering teams to make pragmatic technology choices and establish engineering standards.

Implementation:

  • Support the deployment of AWS RDS, DynamoDB and other database technologies, ensuring that all databases are optimised for performance, data integrity, availability and scalability.
  • Operate production systems including incident response, performance analysis, capacity planning, resilience improvements and operational automation.
  • Lead migrations of MS SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS (or similar), including planning, data transfer and validation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
