About The Role

SSAFA has recently begun its journey to leverage data-driven insights to drive better decisions and organisational success. We are seeking a talented and dynamic individual to join our centralised Data Team in a role that combines senior-level data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and data strategy.

You will act as the data expert across multiple workstreams, working both autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues across the Data Team and wider IT department. Drawing on your experience, you will guide internal teams on data best practice, from data capture and governance through to modelling, reporting, analytics, and insight generation.

A key part of the role will involve working with stakeholders to understand the outcomes they need to achieve, the information required to support decision making, and how data can be used to drive those goals. You will lead stakeholder workshops, gather requirements, analyse processes, define metrics, assess data quality, and design effective data solutions.

You will also identify opportunities to improve data capture, reporting processes, and data quality across the charity. This may involve refining operational processes, making better use of existing datasets, and applying statistical and analytical techniques to generate meaningful insights that support evidence-based decisions.

About The Team

The Data Team is a new team at SSAFA that aims to apply governance and structure to data sources and pipelines, as well as creating reports in Power BI for service leads and other stakeholders to improve their vital work.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
