Job Description

The Opportunity
Alongside earning a salary of £35,000 per annum, you'll join our two-year Data and Technology Graduate Programme, expected to begin in September 2027. From day one, you'll become part of our graduate community and start building a career that combines technology, innovation and purpose.
Over the course of the programme, you'll complete placements across different areas of our Data and Technology function, gaining experience in Software Engineering, Data Science and AI, Data Engineering and Cloud Computing. As you develop your skills, you'll contribute to projects that help transform EDF and support Britain's transition to a low-carbon future.
- You'll enjoy a flexible working experience, with most of your time spent working remotely or from an EDF office, whichever suits you best.
- You'll also have opportunities to spend time at sites and offices across EDF, including locations such as London, Brighton, and Exeter. This is a great way to experience different parts of the business, build your network and see first-hand how technology supports the delivery of cleaner energy.
What You'll Experience
No two placements are the same. You'll work alongside technology specialists, data scientists, software engineers and business teams while developing skills that are in demand across every industry.
Throughout the programme, you'll have opportunities to:

- Explore AI and machine learning
- Work with modern cloud platforms
- Help turn complex data into valuable insights
You'll gain hands-on experience while learning from colleagues who'll support your development every step of the way.
The variety of placements means you'll experience different technologies, teams, and challenges, helping you discover where your interests lie and what kind of career you want to build. Along the way, you'll develop technical expertise, confidence, and a strong understanding of both the energy industry and the role technology plays in shaping its future.
Location
You'll be working remotely with opportunities to complete placements across different parts of our business depending on project and development requirements.
During the programme, you may be asked to relocate temporarily for placements, and we'll provide practical and financial support to help make these moves as smooth as possible.

Where This Programme Could Take You
Kit joined EDF's Data and Technology Graduate Programme knowing very little about either the technology sector or the energy industry. During the scheme, he completed four placements across different teams, building experience in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Full Stack Software Engineering and learning more about Britain's energy systems.
After completing the programme, Kit joined EDF's AI team as a Data Scientist. Following a successful year in the role, he took advantage of EDF's strong culture of internal mobility and moved into Software Engineering within our Small Business and Commercial business.
Today, Kit works as a Software Engineer, developing applications used by EDF's sales teams to provide energy solutions for small businesses.
"I went into the Data and Tech graduate scheme knowing very little about either tech or the energy industry. After four varied placements across different teams, I was able to learn a huge amount about our national energy systems, Data Science, AI and Full Stack Software Engineering.
Initially after rolling off the scheme, I joined the AI team as a Data Scientist. After a really enjoyable year, I was able to move into Software Engineering thanks to EDF's strong culture of internal mobility. I now work on an application that our salespeople use to provide energy for small businesses.
There's a really lovely supportive culture in the team, we work in a totally agile way, and the software engineering we do has a great cloud-native and DevOps culture. I genuinely love coming to work every day, getting to see the great people I work with and building loads of cool stuff."
Who You Are
To be eligible for this EDF graduate programme, you need to have achieved or be expecting to achieve a bachelor’s degree (2:2 or higher) in any field of study.
Please note that the assessment process will involve two stages. The first stage will be a Logical Thinking Exercise, which will take place virtually on Monday 30th November 2026. Successful candidates will then be invited to attend a virtual Assessment Centre, which will take place on Tuesday 8th December 2026. As this is a key stage of the recruitment process, applicants must be available to attend in order to be considered for the programme.
