Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual to join our Data Validation team in the Neurology & Rheumatology Department at Southmead Hospital. This role, under the supervision of the Data Validation & Performance Lead, involves reviewing and validating patient pathways to ensure compliance with the 18-week Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathways. The position is instrumental in maintaining high-quality and accurate data, requiring meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving data quality issues. This is a fixed-term role covering maternity leave.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Regularly download and validate reports on the department’s performance provided by information management.
  • Assist in the completion of data validation tasks on a monthly basis.
  • Regularly check and clear up uncashed outpatient appointments.
  • Regularly check and clear up admission dates in the past.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

  • Regularly download and validate reports on the department’s performance provided by information management.
  • Assist in the completion of data validation tasks on a monthly basis.
  • Regularly check and clear up uncashed outpatient appointments.
  • Regularly check and clear up admission dates in the past.
  • Regularly check the care of patients whose waiting times have exceeded targets to verify that information has been recorded correctly and to facilitate further care where needed.
  • Check care pathways where information has been recorded as missing and obtain the required information.
  • Assist staff in the department in the use of Careflow to prevent data quality issues arising.

Person Specification

Education / Training / Qualification

Essential criteria

  • Educated to a GCSE level (including Maths and English)

Work Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in the NHS or similar organization
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and busy team environment.
  • Experience of working under pressure.
  • Experience of working to fixed protocols and procedures.
  • Experience of using spreadsheets to record and track information.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of talking to patients or working in a patient-focused environment

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Must be computer literate / possess keyboard skills
  • Knowledge of the RTT policy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; good telephone manner
  • Good organizational and time management skills; must be able to prioritize and plan daily workload, including working flexibly when interruptions impact upon completion of daily tasks; must demonstrate attention to detail in a busy and frequently interrupted department; completion of tasks to deadlines.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality, data protection, and freedom of information policies as they relate to waiting times

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of the Careflow patient administration system
