Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Database Administrator role based in the United Kingdom. The Database Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining database systems to ensure high performance, availability, and security. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring database health, performing backups and recovery, managing user access, and optimizing queries and indexes. The role also involves designing and implementing database structures, setting up replication and failover strategies, and troubleshooting database-related issues in collaboration with development and infrastructure teams. The Database Administrator will document processes, follow best practices, and support continuous improvement of data management standards.

Qualifications
- Strong skills in Database Administration and Databases, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Database Design, including schema modeling, normalization, and capacity planning.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting database issues, including query optimization and resolving performance or availability incidents.
- Hands-on experience with Replication and high-availability solutions, such as failover clustering or disaster recovery setups.
- Knowledge of major relational database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle) and familiarity with cloud-based databases.
- Understanding of database security, backup and recovery strategies, and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and document technical processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant certifications in database technologies (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, or other vendor certifications) are an advantage.
