Position
To design, manage, maintain, and optimise SQL Server database environments, ensure high availability, performance, and security. The role also includes supporting reporting systems and business intelligence platforms (Business Objects) and ensuring data integrity.
Key Result Areas
- Design and create schemas, tables, and views
- Develop complex SQL functions, stored procedures, and queries
- Perform SQL performance tuning and optimisation
- Manage SQL Server backup and restoration processes
- Administer users, roles, and security permissions
- Configure and maintain maintenance plans
- Create and maintain scripts to automate routine database, reporting, validation, housekeeping, and operational support tasks
- Support Red Hat, Unix, or other server environments where applicable
- Install, upgrade, and maintain Business Objects environments
- Create and manage WEBI reports
- Design and maintain Universes including derived tables
- Manage promotion and release of reports across environments
- Investigate and resolve data/reporting issues using SQL
- Support onboarding and migration of client datasets including validation and reconciliation

Requirements
- Requirements: Strong SQL skills including performance tuning, schema design, and stored procedures; SQL Server DBA experience
- Bonus requirements: Business Objects (WEBI, Universe design), Red Hat/Unix environments, Ingres DB, scripting experience such as PowerShell, Bash, or SQL-based scripting, and data migration experience
- Aptitude: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective communication
