PostgreSQL Database Administrator

Location: UK-based | Remote / Hybrid | Occasional travel to Kettering and customer sites

About the Role

We're working with a growing technology business that develops warehouse management and automation solutions for customers across the logistics sector.

As part of a wider technology modernisation programme, the organisation is investing heavily in its PostgreSQL platform and is looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join its Systems team.

This role will focus on the administration, performance, availability and ongoing development of a business-critical PostgreSQL estate. You'll play a key role in optimising and modernising the database environment while supporting ongoing migration away from legacy Oracle systems.

It's an excellent opportunity for a hands-on PostgreSQL DBA who enjoys combining operational support with project work and wants to influence the future direction of a growing database platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain and optimise PostgreSQL databases across production environments
  • Monitor database performance and proactively resolve issues
  • Design and support high availability, replication, backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Deliver database upgrades, patching and lifecycle management activities
  • Support Oracle to PostgreSQL migration and modernisation initiatives
  • Maintain database security, access controls and compliance standards
  • Investigate and resolve database-related incidents and performance issues
  • Work closely with development, infrastructure and support teams to drive continuous improvement
  • Contribute to automation, monitoring and operational best practices
  • Maintain technical documentation and support procedures

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
