About The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic IT team at Logistex. In this role, you will be responsible for managing our critical database environments, primarily focusing on Postgres and Oracle databases. You will play a key part in maintaining the performance, security, and integrity of our data systems, ensuring seamless operation for our internal teams and customer-facing platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including software developers, DevOps, and security specialists.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess proven experience as a DBA or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of database management principles. You should have extensive knowledge of Postgres and Oracle database systems, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and security best practices. A solid understanding of backup and recovery procedures, database upgrades, and patch management is essential. Additionally, familiarity with automation, scripting, and CI/CD pipelines will be considered advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to problem resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, and optimize Postgres and Oracle databases to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Perform routine upgrades, apply patches, and conduct backup and recovery testing to safeguard data integrity.
  • Monitor database performance metrics, troubleshoot issues proactively, and implement improvements.
  • Ensure database security by implementing access controls, encryption, and compliance measures.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD workflows and automation initiatives.
  • Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning to accommodate business growth.
  • Respond to and resolve database-related incidents in a timely manner, minimizing system downtime.
