About The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Database Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and maintenance of database systems, ensuring they operate efficiently, securely, and reliably. This role involves overseeing database management tasks such as performance tuning, backup and recovery, upgrades, patch management, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal database performance and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with proven experience in managing PostgreSQL databases, along with additional knowledge of Oracle databases. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the stability and performance of critical data systems.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- Advanced skills and extensive experience with PostgreSQL databases
- Additional experience or knowledge in Oracle databases
- Proven expertise in database management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, upgrade, and patch management
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure data integrity and security
- Good team player with effective communication skills
- Relevant certifications related to database management are a plus but not essential
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Designing and implementing database systems to meet organizational needs
- Managing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high performance and availability
- Performing routine database backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery planning
- Monitoring database performance and tuning to optimize efficiency
- Applying patches, upgrades, and security measures to safeguard data integrity
- Troubleshooting and resolving database issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Collaborating with development teams to optimize database schemas and queries
- Documenting database configurations, procedures, and best practices
- Ensuring compliance with data security standards and policies

Benefits
We offer a competitive salary package ranging from £55,000 to £65,000, commensurate with experience and skills.
