Synapri are working with a well-known global brand looking to hire a new Database Administrator to join on a full-time permanent basis!
Our client is looking for a Database Administrator to join their IT Systems Infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced database professional to play a key role in maintaining, securing, and enhancing critical database platforms that support business operations.
You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, optimisation, and security of a range of database technologies, ensuring high levels of performance, availability, resilience, and compliance. Working closely with Systems Applications, Infrastructure, and Technology teams, you will also lead database-related projects, drive continuous improvement, and support the introduction of new solutions across the organisation.
Salary: Up to £72,000 plus bonus
Location: 3 days in Kent – London boarders

Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database platforms including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and cloud database services.
- Monitor database performance and optimise queries, indexes, and system configurations to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Implement and manage database security controls, user permissions, auditing processes, and access management.
- Develop, maintain, and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, system failures, and performance bottlenecks.
- Support Infrastructure and Application teams with database design, implementation, and optimisation activities.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and contribute to the continual improvement of department documentation standards.
- Drive innovation by reviewing existing technologies and identifying opportunities for improvement and automation.

Skills required:
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer
- Strong administration experience with one or more database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or cloud database technologies.
- Experience with database monitoring, performance tuning, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Experience implementing database security and access control best practices.
- Knowledge of incident management, problem management, and root cause analysis processes.
- Experience producing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Strong project delivery and stakeholder management skills.
