About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our production databases and cloud-based data infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure the performance, security, and scalability of our multi-product software ecosystem, which is essential for delivering seamless data integration and reliable operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence our shared data solutions, helping to transition from fragmented data systems to a unified, intelligence-driven platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background combined with proactive problem-solving skills, enabling them to support our organization’s strategic data initiatives effectively.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing production MySQL and SQL Server database environments, with a strong focus on performance tuning and optimization.
  • Deep understanding of database security best practices, including role-based access controls, encryption, and auditing.
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform, particularly with managed cloud database services.
  • Strong skills in writing, reviewing, and fine-tuning complex SQL queries to enhance system efficiency.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery planning, geo-redundant backups, and implementing robust data protection measures.
  • Experience with version control tools and managing schema deployments in a controlled environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement, automation, and capacity planning.
  • Relevant certifications in database management or cloud platforms are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the stability, security, and performance of core software platforms by managing production databases efficiently.
  • Ensure reliable data flow across multiple products while safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining business continuity.
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize multiple MySQL and SQL Server databases, focusing on query performance, indexing, and system configuration enhancements.
  • Design and implement shared data solutions that enable integrated reporting and business intelligence across platforms.
  • Enforce strict security protocols, including role-based access controls, encryption, and regular patch management, to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop and test geo-redundant backup and disaster recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime in case of incidents.
  • Manage controlled database releases using modern version control processes, collaborating closely with development and product teams.
  • Work alongside product managers, software engineers, and senior technical leaders to align database architecture with product roadmaps and technical standards.
  • Establish proactive monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning tools to manage system health and performance effectively.
  • Provide occasional out-of-hours support for planned maintenance or critical incidents, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
