About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Application Database Administrator (RDBMS) to join our dynamic team at Vbeyond. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity, security, and performance of our relational database environments, which are integral to our aerospace and defence solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of database systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and securely to support mission-critical applications.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in database administration, with proven experience working within the Aerospace & Defence industry. You will work closely with development teams, system administrators, and security personnel to deliver high-quality database services that meet strict industry standards and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience in Database Administration / RDBMS, with a solid understanding of relational database concepts and management.
- Experience working with one or more of the following database platforms: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server.
- Strong skills in database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
- Experience implementing database security protocols, user access controls, and encryption standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage backup and disaster recovery processes effectively.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience providing production support for critical database environments.
- Knowledge of maintaining data integrity, performing routine database maintenance, and resolving data issues.
- Experience with capacity planning, monitoring database growth, and resource utilization.
- Must have relevant experience working within the Aerospace & Defence industry, understanding industry-specific security and compliance standards.
- Ability to work remotely from within the UK, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and upgrade relational database management systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
- Support the entire database lifecycle, including deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Monitor database performance, analyze slow queries, and optimize database indexes to enhance efficiency.
- Manage database security by defining user roles, permissions, and implementing authentication protocols.
- Implement and test backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data availability and integrity in case of failures.
- Maintain database health through routine checks, integrity validation, and applying necessary updates or patches.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, including connectivity problems, performance bottlenecks, and data inconsistencies.
- Support capacity planning activities by monitoring growth trends and recommending infrastructure enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database environments meet project requirements and security standards.
- Develop documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
